Synopsis

Ninety miles from the equator, on the only rink in East Africa, a group of teenagers play a sport most of their fellow Kenyans have never even seen: ice hockey. They could not be further from the bright lights of international hockey, but led by their captain, John Kitumaini, these players’ dreams go far beyond Nairobi.

An original audio series inspired by the remarkable and heartwarming true story, Ice Lions follows John and his friends as they chase their impossible dream of creating Kenya’s first ice hockey team and sharing the spirit of hope and togetherness with the world.

As part of an ELA curriculum, Ice Lions is a classic underdog story full of heart and grit.
